St. Vincent DePaul Mission to Hold Annual Banquet
The St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury commemorates a 39-year record of continual service to the poor of the greater Waterbury area with a banquet on Thursday, March 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Oak Villa, Oakville. A donation of $50 per person is requested. For information and reservations, please call Lorein Cipriano (203-754-0000 or email@example.com), Emma Barone (203-758-5911), or George Pettinico (860-274-9310).
The banquet program will feature the presentation of the Father Cascia Service Award to Stella Logiudice of Prospect; to St. Anthony Church of Prospect; to Father Mark Suslenko, pastor of St. Paul Church, Glastonbury and St. Augustine Church, South Glastonbury; and to Father Joseph T. Donnelly, pastor of Sacred Heart Church of Southbury.
Both Fr. Suslenko and Fr. Donnelly have served the faith community of St. Anthony Church in the past. The 2017 honorees have, in their own way, exemplified the spirit of service and the dedication of Father Philip Cascia, who founded the Mission in 1978 and served as its chief officer, counselor, and guide throughout the early years of operation.
The St. Vincent DePaul Mission provides programs and services of housing and basic needs to adults and families who are poor, hungry, and homeless, as well as to people coping with mental illness and addiction.
The programs, operated from the Mission’s thrift store, soup kitchen/food pantry, homeless shelter, supervised living sites, group home, and affordable housing apartments, are formatted to give consumers the best opportunity to achieve their highest potential in the areas of wellness, recovery, and independence.
Each person seeking help from the Mission is met with dignity as their specific needs are addressed with a single goal: to assist them in recovering their full sense of self-worth and rightful place in the community.
Donations to St. Vincent DePaul Mission are tax-deductible. Your volunteer service is welcomed and appreciated. Please visit our website, svdpmission.org, or call our office, at 203-754-0000, for more information.
For additional information regarding the banquet, please call Edwin Rodriguez at 203-754-0000 or George Pettinico, 860-274-9310.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament -- Our Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Devotion during Lent is upon us again, Fridays from 1 until 6 p.m. This is a special opportunity for the members of our parish to come and spend time with Christ in our midst. During this time, it is required that we have someone in attendance “adoring” the Eucharist at all times. The six Fridays of Lent, starting March 3 to April 7, will be broken down into five one-hour time slots. Please consider making a commitment to Christ to spend an hour with Him during Lent. You will never regret it. As Jesus said “Could you not watch one hour with me?” In addition, all are invited to stop in at your convenience for adoration.
Stations of the Cross -- Every Friday during Lent at 6:30 p.m. On March 24, the Stations will be at 5 p.m. due to the Healing Mass. Living Stations of the Cross will take place on Friday, April 7.

As part of our Lenten observance, St. Anthony Church is hosting meatless soup suppers. This communal meal is prepared each week by volunteers in one of the many ministries in the parish. Each week there is a variety of five to six meatless soups served with bread. The meals are free and people of all denominations are welcome to attend.
